Xiaomi reveals which phones get HyperOS 4's Soft Light Glass — and it's not all of them

Xiaomi has published the first official list of devices that will receive the new Soft Light Glass visual effect as part of the HyperOS 4 update. For now, the list only includes models for the Chinese market, but global versions built on the same hardware are likely to get the feature as well.

Soft Light Glass is one of the key visual elements of the redesigned interface. It creates a soft, diffused light effect on glass surfaces: semi-transparent layers, smooth transitions, and subtle backlighting make system elements appear more dimensional and lively. HyperOS 4 overhauls the entire visual system — updated devices will get new glass materials, redesigned widgets, and lock screen changes.

The main reason for the limited availability is performance. Semi-transparent layers, blur effects, and backlighting put a heavy load on the system, so Xiaomi is reserving Soft Light Glass for flagship and powerful sub-flagship devices from recent generations. The current list does not include separate global versions, but the company is likely to expand support later.

The full list of supported devices includes: Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 14 Pro, Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi MIX Flip, Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, Redmi K80 Pro, Redmi K80, Redmi K70 Ultra, Redmi K70 Pro, Redmi K70, Redmi K60 Ultra, Redmi K60 Pro, Redmi K60, Redmi Note 14 Pro+, Redmi Note 14 Pro, Redmi Note 13 Pro+, Redmi Turbo 4, and Redmi Turbo 3. Owners of other models will likely have to wait for further updates or settle for the standard HyperOS 4 elements.
