Avore EX2S electric motorcycle at $1,800 hits 114 km/h and up to 260 km of range

Indian startup Avore has unveiled the EX2S electric motorcycle, pairing a modest price with specs that could reshape the two-wheeler market. The new model is priced at 169,999 rupees, roughly $1,800, undercutting rivals like the Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 by a wide margin.

At the core sits a 5 kWh battery, which the manufacturer claims delivers 260 km of range on India's IDC test cycle. Real-world figures, as often happens, may drop to about half that, around 130 km, still ample for most urban commutes. The claimed efficiency of 19 Wh/km is comparable to an electric bicycle, which seems optimistic under official testing.

Power comes from a 10.5 kW (14 hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing a claimed 250 Nm of wheel torque. The EX2S accelerates from a standstill to 40 km/h in 2.8 seconds, topping out at 114 km/h. Sustained riding at maximum speed, however, will likely drain the battery quickly.

Charging is another strong point. An onboard 1.5 kW charger plugs into a standard household outlet, replenishing the battery from 20% to 80% in about two hours, with a full charge taking roughly four hours. The split-pack battery design also improves weight distribution and thermal management compared to a single large unit.

Despite the bargain price, the EX2S comes with a 7-inch TFT display offering navigation and ride data, plus smartphone connectivity for geo-fencing, diagnostics, and security alerts. Riders can select multiple modes, including a simulated four-speed SYFT Mode that mimics traditional gear shifts.

India remains the world's largest two-wheeler market, selling over 20 million motorcycles and scooters annually. The arrival of such an affordable electric motorcycle highlights how quickly this segment is evolving, potentially making riders elsewhere envious of the pricing.
