Redmi 17 lands in Europe at €220: 120Hz display, 7500mAh battery, 50MP camera

Xiaomi's budget smartphone Redmi 17 has officially entered the European market, launching first in Germany and Spain. The device targets buyers who need a dependable everyday tool without flagship pretensions or paying extra for excessive performance.

The base version starts at €220. For that price, buyers get a configuration capable of handling daily tasks: messaging, video streaming, and banking apps. In Germany, the handset is already available through several major retailers, while Spanish sales run through Xiaomi's official channels. Expansion to other EU countries is expected in the coming weeks.

The smartphone features a 6.9-inch Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which has become the standard even in the budget segment. The hardware is built around a mid-range MediaTek processor that ensures smooth operation of the HyperOS interface. RAM starts at 4GB, while internal storage comes in 128GB or 256GB variants.

The main camera sports a 50MP sensor that produces decent shots in daylight but does not aim for artistic quality in low-light conditions. A 7500mAh battery delivers one and a half to two days of use with moderate activity. Charging goes through a USB-C port, and the power adapter is included in the box.

The Redmi 17 launch is part of Xiaomi's strategy to maintain leadership in the sub-€250 segment, where competition from Samsung and Motorola keeps intensifying. For users needing significantly more power, the company points to its higher-tier models.
