Honor Robot Phone packs gimbal camera stabilization and a 7060 mAh battery

Honor has unveiled the Robot Phone in China, touting it as the world's first smartphone with a built-in gimbal for camera stabilization. The mechanism, typically found in compact cameras such as the DJI Pocket, is now integrated directly into the device's chassis. Even the company's flagship Honor Magic8 Pro, regarded as one of the best camera phones of 2026, lacks this technology.

The physical gimbal keeps the sensor level during handheld shooting, while conventional smartphones rely on software processing and frame cropping to reduce shake. Honor developed the mechanism in partnership with ARRI, a well-known maker of professional cinema cameras.

The bulky construction makes the Robot Phone stand out in size: it weighs 248 grams and measures 9.59 mm thick. For comparison, the Honor Magic8 Pro weighs 219 grams with a 6.71-inch screen. The new model has a smaller 6.31-inch display. Despite the compact body, it fits a 7060 mAh battery.

The camera setup has not been compromised for the sake of the mechanics. The main module offers 200 MP with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture, stabilized by the gimbal. The periscope telephoto lens also has 200 MP, a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6, 2.7x optical zoom, and optical stabilization. The ultrawide camera is 50 MP with f/2.0, a 122-degree field of view, and macro shooting from 2.5 cm. The front camera is 50 MP and records 4K video.

Image processing is handled by the proprietary Honor H1 chip. It processes RAW files in real time, improves the signal-to-noise ratio by 8 dB, and delivers up to 14 stops of dynamic range.
