Xiaomi polls users on what they want from a dedicated shoe washing machine

Xiaomi is exploring the possibility of launching a dedicated shoe washing machine. Shan Liangyu, the general manager of the large home appliances division at Xiaomi Group, announced that the company is currently studying the concept of such a device and has launched a survey among users.

In the survey, the executive is asking how people currently care for their footwear: whether they wash shoes by hand, take them to specialized cleaning services, or use a regular washing machine. The core question is what problems a dedicated shoe washing machine should solve and which features users consider the most important.

Similar devices already exist on the market. Fully automatic models typically use rotating brushes that clean shoes during the washing cycle. Another approach involves high-pressure water spraying, which allows deeper penetration into the material to remove ingrained dirt.

The company has not yet disclosed any design details or technical specifications of the future device.
