Superior eWAY 6.1 city e-bike gets unusual monoshock fork and Bosch motor for €3399

German brand Superior has introduced the eWAY 6.1, an electric bicycle aimed at urban commuting. The standout feature is the unconventional front fork design: instead of a classic telescopic suspension, it uses a single-sided monoshock setup with just one damper. Travel is limited to 25 millimeters, well below the 60 millimeters or more typical of trekking bikes.

A suspension seatpost partially compensates for the modest fork travel. The drivetrain relies on a Bosch Active Line Plus mid-drive motor delivering up to 50 Nm of torque — not the most powerful option in Bosch's lineup, but considered adequate for city riding. Power comes from a Bosch PowerTube battery with a 500 Wh capacity.

The gear system is a 7-speed Shimano Nexus hub, with power transferred via a chain. The manufacturer paid special attention to chain protection: a prominent guard covers the entire chain on both sides, keeping the rider's clothing clean and shielding the chain from wear.

Equipment is fully suited for daily use: the 29.1-kilogram bike comes with front and rear fenders, a MIK-compatible rack, Spanninga lights, and a kickstand. An Axa frame lock is also included. The recommended price for the eWAY 6.1 is €3399, though it is already available for less at retailers. Superior e-bikes are sold not only in Germany but also across other EU countries.
