ASUS lets AI agents control monitor settings: brightness, color and profiles on command

ASUS has rolled out a major update to DisplayWidget Center, its monitor management utility for Windows 11 and macOS, that enables AI agents to adjust display parameters directly. This covers brightness, color mode, color temperature, and OLED anti-flicker protection.

The centerpiece is a new command-line interface called Display Control CLI, paired with an Agent Skill file that teaches an AI agent how to use it. The tool is aimed primarily at developers and agent builders, who can integrate the ability to change screen settings via text prompts into their solutions.

All operations are performed locally, with no data transmitted to cloud services. The CLI acts as a local automation layer driven by the agent. However, if the agent itself relies on a cloud model via an API, its own data may be sent externally — this is unrelated to DisplayWidget Center's functions.

ASUS highlighted practical scenarios. An agent can review the user's calendar and automatically switch display profiles based on the time of day. For gamers, it can analyze past sessions and recommend refresh rate, FPS, and anti-flicker settings.

The update adds two more AI features. AI Visual, available on compatible ROG and TUF monitors, reads on-screen content in real time and picks the most suitable visual mode automatically. An upgraded AI Assistant accepts text or voice commands to adjust settings and answer FAQ-style questions.

Other improvements include expanded OLED Care tools, per-app display profiles via App Tweaker, ColorSync consistency across multiple identical monitors, and more. Full details on the CLI and other additions are available in the official company blog post.
