Russian firm unveils bird-deterrent radar for airports and Arctic-ready anti-drone systems

At the Arctic — Regions forum in Arkhangelsk, Russian holding company Rosel has presented two product lines: an ornithological safety system called ORNI and a range of counter-drone electronic warfare tools.
The ORNI complex detects birds at distances of up to 21 kilometers and scares them away with bioacoustic signals. The system can affect roughly one hundred birds simultaneously. According to the developers' estimates, deploying ORNI at a major airport could cut annual spending on aircraft repairs, ground time and replacement of damaged components by about 900 million rubles.
The second area of development is electronic warfare equipment designed to suppress drones. These solutions target transport facilities and industrial enterprises. For use in the Arctic, the hardware must remain operational at low temperatures and under harsh weather conditions.
Speaking at a business session, Rosel expert Natalia Kotlyar pointed to growing demand for drone detection systems. She said Russia's anti-drone market reached 12 billion rubles in 2025. For 2026, the key trend, according to her, is merging detection and suppression tools into unified control systems. Rosel is also working on neural network algorithms to automate data processing in counter-drone operations.
