Openterface KeyMod: a pocket USB multi-tool that turns your phone into a keyboard, mouse, and gamepad

TechxArtisan, the company behind the successful Openterface Mini-KVM and KVM-GO, has launched a new crowdfunding campaign for the Openterface KeyMod — a pocket-sized USB multi-tool that transforms an Android or iOS smartphone into a wireless keyboard, mouse, gamepad, presentation remote, or SSH terminal for controlling PCs, servers, kiosks, Raspberry Pi boards, and other USB hosts.
The KeyMod comes in two variants: the KeyMod Mini with a USB-C port, and the KeyMod Plus with a USB-A port. The Mini connects to the phone via Bluetooth 5.3, offering wireless convenience, while the Plus relies on a wired USB connection for higher bandwidth and lower latency. Both variants provide standard USB HID keyboard and mouse functions that work even at the BIOS level, along with a USB CDC-ECM network bridge that enables SSH, VNC, SCP, rsync, and other TCP-based tools for remote management.
The hardware is built around a CH32V208 HID controller and a composite USB architecture, and it draws power directly from the target device's USB port — no batteries or external power supply required. The device is designed with IT support, server administration, embedded system development, and gaming in mind. Its compact form factor makes it easy to carry in a pocket or on a keychain.
The KeyMod Mini and Plus are now available for backing on Crowd Supply, with early bird pricing and various reward tiers. TechxArtisan expects to start shipping to backers in late 2026. The company's previous products, the Mini-KVM and KVM-GO, have gained a strong following among system administrators and tech enthusiasts for their ability to control multiple computers with a single keyboard, mouse, and monitor setup.
