Dawn of War 4 delayed to December, Commander Edition gets early access

Dawn of War 4 will no longer launch in September as originally planned. Developer King Art Games has pushed the release date back from September 17 to December 3, citing the desire to deliver the level of quality the team originally envisioned.

Creative director Jan Theysen said that as the project approached its final stages, the studio saw an opportunity to improve the game. The extra time will be used for performance optimization, bug fixes, and general polish to ensure players have the best possible experience from day one. Those who pre-order the Commander Edition can jump in earlier — early access opens on November 30, three days before the official launch.

Post-launch plans include free updates with new maps, the return of Crusade mode, additional commanders, and a mission editor. Two story expansions are also in development.

The author of the article, who played Dawn of War 4 in 2025, notes that the game is closest to the original entry in the series. In his match as the Blood Ravens against orks, an orbital strike destroyed the final enemy base while Dreadnoughts finished off survivors. He admits he has been eager to play again but will now have to wait a few more months.

The delay places the game in a crowded release schedule for the end of the year, alongside many major titles. Still, fans who consider the first two Dawn of War games among the best RTS titles of the 3D era have high hopes for King Art Games — the studio already proved itself with Iron Harvest.
