The popular roguelite Cult of the Lamb has received a 60% discount on Steam, bringing its price down from just under $25 to $9.99. The sale runs until August 25, and according to SteamDB, this matches the game's previous all-time low, last seen in January.

The game offers an unusual mix: cute cartoon visuals sit alongside dark magic, rival cults, and macabre rituals in the Lands of the Old Faith. The protagonist is a lamb saved at the last moment from sacrifice by a mysterious deity known as "The One Who Waits." In return, the lamb must found its own cult and gather a growing flock of followers.

A defining feature of Cult of the Lamb is the constant switch between action-packed crusades and managing your own cult. Back at camp, players construct buildings and production facilities, grow food, and recruit new followers. Followers need to be kept busy, fed, and happy through sermons, rituals, and player-defined doctrines. For those who prefer a less merciful approach to leadership, troublesome followers can simply be sacrificed. Once the cult is under control, it's time to head out on a crusade through procedurally generated dungeons, fighting enemies, gathering resources, and finding new followers. Different weapons, curses, Tarot cards, and relics add variety, with their combinations changing from one run to the next.

German gaming magazine 4Players awarded the game 8 out of 10, praising Cult of the Lamb for its successful blend of base building and roguelite elements, varied gameplay, and unusual setting that pairs cute cartoon graphics with plenty of dark humor. Criticism, however, was aimed at the gameplay loop becoming repetitive over time, as well as the relatively shallow combat and management systems. According to the review, individual dungeon runs usually take just 15 to 20 minutes, making the game well suited to shorter sessions. Fittingly, Cult of the Lamb is rated "Verified" for the Steam Deck, making it a good option for gaming on the go. Metacritic lists a Metascore of 82 and a User Score of 7.9.
