Cowboy 3030 hits record low of $1.49 on Steam — a 90% discount for a sci-fi Wild West roguelike

Cowboy 3030, a futuristic Wild West roguelike shooter from indie developer Soy Boy Games, has dropped to its lowest price ever on Steam. The 2024 title is now available for $1.49, down from $14.99 — a 90% discount, according to SteamDB price tracking data.

Set in the year 3030, the game takes place in a fictional sci-fi version of the American frontier called Hololasso County. The region is under siege by the Nebularos, a gang of alien outlaws and rogue combat robots. Players assume the role of a bounty hunter tasked with liberating the county from these invaders.

The gameplay blends fast-paced third-person shooting with 3D bullet-hell mechanics and roguelite progression. Players can choose from five distinct heroes, each equipped with unique weapons and abilities. Calix wields a revolver and an electric lasso, Keri picks off enemies from a distance with a precision rifle, and Teri uses a magnetic field to pull foes directly into the line of fire of his shotgun.

Combat requires mastering enemy attack patterns: red projectiles can be dodged by rolling through them, while blue attacks must be avoided entirely. Bosses fill arenas with lasers, projectiles, and varied attack sequences. The roguelite element comes from a progression system that changes with each run, allowing players to upgrade weapons, stats, and abilities as they progress.
