Xbox Free Play Days: NBA 2K26 and two Ghost Recon games free until August 9

Microsoft has kicked off another Free Play Days promotion, giving Xbox owners a chance to try five games for free through the weekend. The lineup includes NBA 2K26, both Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon titles — Wildlands and Breakpoint — plus the indie games Wax Heads and Sports Renovations. Most of them are open to all console players without a Game Pass subscription.

The lone exception is Sports Renovations, a simulator about restoring old gyms, courts, and pitches. It requires one of the paid Xbox Game Pass tiers: Ultimate, Premium, or Essential. The other four games can be launched with no membership requirements at all.

The two Ubisoft shooters boast massive open worlds and tactical co-op for up to three players. NBA 2K26 offers the full experience, including career mode and multiplayer, until August 14. Wax Heads is a cozy-punk narrative sim where you run a struggling record store and pick albums for eccentric customers.

To find them on your console, head to the Store, open the Home section in the sidebar, and switch to the Subscriptions tab — the entire Free Play Days collection will show up there. Except for NBA 2K26, all offers end on Sunday, August 9, at 11:59 pm PT.
