Ukraine's Navy strikes Sivash drilling platform used by Russia to control drones

The Ukrainian Navy, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and other components of the Defense Forces, struck targets on the Sivash self-elevating drilling platform located at the Golitsyn gas condensate field in the Black Sea. The Navy's press service announced this, though the exact date of the operation was not disclosed.

According to the military, equipment installed on the platform was used by Russian forces to control strike drones and to guide and adjust attacks on southern Ukrainian cities. Reconnaissance assets placed on the rig allowed the enemy to track the movement of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned surface vessels.

The platform also housed elite Russian special operations units, along with weapons including portable missile systems and other equipment intended to counter Ukrainian drones and unmanned boats. The Ukrainian Navy released video footage of the strike.

Earlier reports said the Unmanned Systems Forces hit three Russian naval units in a single day on August 7.
