Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis remake adds crafting and skill trees — and you'll need them to survive

The upcoming remake of the first Tomb Raider, titled Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, will feature a full progression system and crafting mechanics, the developers confirmed. Lara Croft will be able to unlock new abilities through a skill tree, though the studio did not reveal the exact number or names of the perks. Footage shown to the press indicates a wide range of upgrade options.
Crafting will also play a key role: Lara can create tools, gadgets, and food with unique properties from materials found in the environment. The developers emphasized that the remake is built around these systems, meaning that certain areas will be nearly impossible or extremely difficult to complete without the right crafted items and unlocked skills. This design choice aims to increase replayability and depth, responding to modern gamers' demand for content-rich experiences.
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for release on February 12 next year across all major platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The game is a ground-up rebuild of the 1996 classic, retaining the original story and level structure while adding contemporary gameplay mechanics.
