Beaten Path blends Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem in a tactical RPG for PC and consoles in 2026

Digital Kingdom has unveiled Beaten Path, a turn-based tactical RPG that draws on mechanics from Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem. The game is slated for a 2026 release on PC and consoles.
Set in a war-torn fantasy world, the story casts the player as the leader of a mercenary company. Accepting contracts and slowly uncovering the narrative, players will deal with themes of betrayal, duty, and the cost of survival. According to the developers, choices made over the course of the campaign will shape the story's progression and the relationships between characters.
A standout feature of the combat system is the absence of a traditional grid, with units moving freely across the battlefield for greater tactical flexibility. Players can command four mercenary classes, each with its own skill tree. The game also includes a system where successful actions in battle strengthen bonds between squad members, unlocking new dialogue and combat options.
The visual style is built around pixel art inspired by genre classics. The team includes industry veterans who previously worked on titles like Pillars of Eternity and Shadowrun Returns. The project is currently in active development, with the exact release date and the full list of target consoles to be announced later.
