Tom's Hardware Launches Bench 2.0 With Price-Performance Charts and Interactive Comparisons

Tom's Hardware has unveiled Bench 2.0, a revamped benchmark analyzer available exclusively to Tom's Hardware Premium subscribers. The company describes it as the most powerful and intuitive benchmark browser in the business, built from the ground up after a complete rethink of the original tool.

The most significant change is the introduction of a detailed hierarchy for tests, replacing the single long list that characterized Bench 1.0. Users can now filter by gaming tests, synthetic benchmarks, or specific applications for content creation and encoding. Detailed product pages have also been added, featuring specifications, benchmark results, and pricing information.

A standout feature is the new Bang for the Buck visualization, powered by data from the proprietary Hawk tool. These charts plot performance against cost, a crucial metric in today's expensive hardware market. The graphics are interactive — hovering reveals details, and clicking a data point sets it as a baseline for comparison, such as against a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.

The team also spent dozens of hours retesting the entire slate of CPUs and GPUs to refresh the data. Bench's database now encompasses hundreds of products, thousands of tests, and tens of thousands of data points collected annually through the publication's labs.

Tom's Hardware Premium is priced at $29 per year or from $7 per month. Subscribers gain access to daily news analysis, deep dives into semiconductor industry topics, and the Bench tool itself. Users can also store their own products in a profile and mark them as currently in use.
