SunEnergyXT's €1599 retrofit adds up to 90 kWh of storage to existing solar systems

SunEnergyXT, formerly SunLit Solar, has started selling its new hybrid energy storage unit, which was unveiled several weeks ago at the ees Europe 2026 trade show in Munich. The SunEnergyXT 500 PRO AC Core is now available at specialized retailers, with a suggested retail price starting at €1,599 and various promotional offers in place.

The storage unit is an AC-coupled battery system designed to upgrade existing solar installations. Owners of both small and large setups can add energy storage without major modifications, a timely option given declining feed-in tariffs and the growing need to consume self-generated electricity.

The base capacity of the new device is 5 kWh, expandable to 30 kWh, and combining up to three units yields a total storage volume of up to 90 kWh. The main unit integrates a bidirectional inverter with 2,400 W of output and AC charging capability. Charging and power delivery are managed through a compatible smart meter, with support for the Shelly (Pro) 3EM and EM-50, Eco-Tracker IR and P1, and bitShake. The system can also be integrated into smart home platforms such as Home Assistant, with local control that does not rely on cloud services.

The key feature that sets the SunEnergyXT 500 PRO AC Core apart from other retrofit solar storage systems is the built-in hardware for direct connection of solar panels. The device includes four MPPT inputs rated at 625 W each or three at 800 W, but these are disabled at the factory. Activation is possible for an additional fee, allowing the system's functionality to be expanded later—for example, by adding panels to an existing solar installation—without installing new hardware or replacing components.
