Ratio launcher puts all your messaging app chats on one Android screen

A Pixel 9 Pro XL owner tired of constantly switching between messaging apps found a solution in the Ratio: Productivity Homescreen launcher. This minimal Android launcher offers a centralized hub for all messages, eliminating the need to jump between different chat applications.

After using the stock Pixel Launcher for over a year, the user grew accustomed to its speed and fluidity but missed a way to manage conversations in a unified interface separate from the notification panel. The search led to Ratio, which is positioned as a tool for reducing screen time and distractions, but its key feature turned out to be the centralized chat hub.

Before switching to the Pixel, the author used Xiaomi and Galaxy phones, both offering floating bubbles for messages, with One UI adding an Edge Panel for quick controls. Native bubbles arriving with Android 17 solved part of the problem, but as the number of daily messaging apps grew, bubbles proved insufficient for keeping conversations under control.

Ratio turned out to be one of the few launchers supporting the needed concept. It merges multiple threads from various apps into a single feed, allowing all dialogues to be managed without constant context switching.

The launcher itself features a minimal monochrome design reminiscent of a Kindle e-reader interface. App icons appear as white glyphs, and the UI offers only one background for all screens — either preloaded wallpapers or a fully black option for menus and the app list instead of blurred wallpapers.

The structure includes a clean home screen, an app drawer, and two additional screens for widgets and conversations. Initial setup places a few core apps, with the rest customizable to fit user preferences.

The main limitation noted by the tester concerns hub functionality: despite the convenience of a unified feed, the implementation has significant flaws in handling individual apps, requiring refinement from developers.
