Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra leak ahead of launch with smaller batteries for global market

Poco is preparing to launch two new flagship smartphones, the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, and the full specs and renders have leaked online ahead of the official announcement. Both devices have already passed several mandatory certification steps, suggesting the release is imminent.

The two models are rebranded versions of Xiaomi's Chinese Redmi K100 series. The Poco F9 Pro is essentially a global version of the Redmi K100 Pro, while the F9 Ultra is based on the Redmi K100 Pro Max. The main difference between the Chinese originals and the international editions lies in the batteries: engineers have reduced the capacity for the global market.

The Poco F9 Pro comes with a 6330 mAh battery, a significant drop from the 8580 mAh cell found in the Redmi K100 Pro. Despite the smaller capacity, wired charging speed stays at 100 W. The phone features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1156×2510 pixels, a 185 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V chipset. Buyers will be offered configurations with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage.

The camera system includes a 200 MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50 MP telephoto lens with 2.5x zoom, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32 MP front-facing shooter for selfies.

The higher-end Poco F9 Ultra is equipped with an 8050 mAh battery, compared to 9070 mAh in the Redmi K100 Pro Max. Other specs and the official launch date have not been revealed yet, but given the certification trail, the announcement of both devices is expected in the near future.
