Pixio’s new 4K monitor hits 320 Hz in 1080p mode — and it’s priced for budget gamers

Pixio, a brand that enjoys strong popularity in Japan among cost-conscious gamers, has announced a new gaming monitor called the PX32UF Wave. The 31.5-inch display features a fast IPS panel with a native 4K resolution and a 160 Hz refresh rate. For users who prioritize speed over sharpness, the monitor supports a dual-mode feature that allows switching to 1080p resolution, at which point the refresh rate jumps to 320 Hz. While 1080p on a 31.5-inch screen may result in less crisp text and lower pixel density, the trade-off is acceptable for fast-paced gaming where frame rates matter more than visual fidelity.
The PX32UF Wave covers 125% of the sRGB color gamut, according to Pixio, which should make it suitable not only for gaming but also for general content consumption like streaming or video editing. The contrast ratio is listed at 1000:1, which is standard for IPS panels without local dimming. While OLED and mini-LED monitors offer significantly better HDR performance and deeper blacks, those technologies come at a much higher price point, and Pixio is clearly aiming for the budget-friendly segment.
In terms of connectivity, the monitor includes two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, a single HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. It also comes with dual 3-watt speakers, which are unlikely to impress audiophiles but should suffice for basic audio output. Pixio has not yet disclosed the official pricing for the PX32UF Wave, but given the brand's reputation for offering high-value products at competitive prices, the monitor is expected to be priced aggressively, appealing to gamers who want both 4K clarity and high-speed 1080p gaming in a single affordable package.
