Apple leaks camera-equipped AirPods in macOS demo — launch likely next month

Apple appears to be on the verge of announcing AirPods with built-in cameras, following the discovery of a demo video in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 Release Candidate.
The video, uncovered by MacRumors, shows a man wearing AirPods asking Siri to remember a book he is looking at. The voice-over explains: "With Visual Intelligence, your world becomes savable. See something you like? Just ask me to save it for later."
The cameras themselves are not visible in the footage, and the earbuds closely resemble the current AirPods Pro. The most noticeable difference is a slightly thicker stem.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple could launch camera-equipped AirPods as early as this year under the codename B790. The macOS Tahoe 26.7 RC also contains references to B790, including code for an "image stream." Interestingly, this model is reportedly separate from another camera-equipped AirPods variant, codenamed B798, which Bloomberg expects to debut in 2027.
Given that Apple included this demo in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 RC, it is highly likely that the camera-equipped AirPods will be announced next month during the company's iPhone event. The inclusion of Visual Intelligence suggests the new earbuds will leverage the same AI-powered scene recognition found in the latest iPhone models, allowing users to capture and recall information about objects they see simply by asking Siri. This could mark a significant step toward Apple's long-rumored push into wearable computing, blending audio with augmented reality capabilities.
