Netflix Sets Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 for October 2026, Blue Eye Samurai for January 2027

Netflix closed out the first night of Anime NYC 2026 with a slate of announcements about its upcoming anime lineup, including release dates for highly anticipated second seasons and a brand-new original series.

The biggest news: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere on October 20, 2026 — four years after the first season took the streaming world by storm. This standalone installment will consist of 10 episodes and return viewers to the dark, neon-lit universe of Cyberpunk 2077. The show promises more action, violence, and a revenge-driven plot. Netflix had previously released some stills back in June, but the company now dropped an official teaser trailer and a fresh set of images.

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 is set to arrive in January 2027. The new season will follow protagonist Mizu on her continued quest for vengeance, this time taking her to London. The season will consist of six episodes. Netflix shared a short teaser alongside the launch date, with more details expected closer to the premiere.

In addition to returning hits, Netflix announced a new original steampunk-style anime titled Bass x Machina. The series boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Janelle Monáe, Brian Tyree Henry, Tati Gabrielle, and Cree Summer. Set in the American West, the story revolves around a father on a relentless quest for justice, blending supernatural and sci-fi elements with plenty of bloodshed. The show is expected to be a gritty, genre-bending entry into Netflix's growing anime portfolio.
