Motorola Razr 70 Plus fills the gap between budget and flagship foldables

Motorola has expanded its clamshell lineup with the Razr 70 Plus, a new foldable that sits between the affordable standard model and the premium Ultra variant. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset — not the absolute top-tier processor, but a very fast one — paired with speedy memory and a smooth 165-Hz display. In practice, this puts the phone well ahead of the regular Razr 70 in performance, making it capable of handling demanding apps and mobile games without breaking a sweat.
The Razr 70 Plus borrows the external display from the Ultra model, giving users the same large cover screen for quick interactions, app usage, and using the main camera as a viewfinder for selfies. The internal foldable display is slightly smaller than on the Ultra, but still offers a tall, immersive canvas typical of modern clamshell designs. The camera system has also been upgraded compared to the budget model, delivering a high-quality photography experience that should satisfy most users.
One of the notable improvements in the Razr 70 Plus is the refined hinge mechanism, which reduces the visibility of the crease on the foldable screen. Motorola has also focused on battery life, equipping the device with a battery that comfortably lasts through a full day of active use. The phone is available in several color options and has already hit store shelves with a launch price of around $1,100.
Positioning the Razr 70 Plus as a middle-ground option makes sense for Motorola: it offers much of the premium experience — including the large cover display and capable cameras — while avoiding the top-tier price tag of the Ultra. At the same time, it significantly outperforms the entry-level Razr 70, which cuts costs with a smaller outer screen and more modest camera hardware. This strategy could appeal to buyers who want a high-end foldable feel without paying flagship prices, potentially making the Razr 70 Plus a strong contender in the mid-range foldable segment.
