Lenovo Y700 gaming tablet hits 4.58M AnTuTu score but disappoints with smaller battery

Lenovo has unveiled the AnTuTu benchmark results for its upcoming gaming tablet, and the numbers are nothing short of impressive. The device, which is set for a full reveal on August 25, scored a staggering 4,585,844 points, positioning it as one of the most powerful Android tablets on the market.

The exact name of the tablet remains somewhat unclear, with possible translations from Chinese suggesting Y700 Infinite, Y700 Ultimate, or Y700 Unlimited. What is certain is that the new model builds upon the foundation of the Y700 released back in March, adding built-in 5G mobile connectivity as a key upgrade.

However, not all news is good news. According to recent rumors, the battery capacity will see a reduction from the 9,000 mAh found in the current Y700 down to 7,500 mAh. While the tablet will support 68W fast wired charging to partially compensate, the decrease is likely to disappoint dedicated gamers. This is especially frustrating given that numerous smartphones have already matched or exceeded this capacity figure, making the downgrade in a gaming-focused device feel particularly out of touch.

Previous leaks suggest the new Y700 will feature an 8.4-inch OLED display with "2.5K" resolution and impressively slim bezels measuring just 2.89 mm. Under the hood, the tablet is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which would explain its phenomenal benchmark performance. The device is also rumored to be remarkably thin at 6.5 mm and lightweight at 298 grams, making it a highly portable option for gamers on the go.

With the official launch just days away, Lenovo is clearly positioning this tablet as a premium gaming device. The combination of top-tier performance, 5G support, and a high-quality OLED panel suggests the company is aiming to compete with the best in the segment, even if the battery trade-off raises some eyebrows.
