Lava launches $90 smartphone with 90Hz display and MIL-STD-810H durability

Indian company Lava has introduced the budget Smart 4 smartphone, combining features rarely seen in this price segment: a 90Hz display, a large battery, and a chassis certified to military standards. The device runs on the lightweight Android Go operating system and targets users who do not require high performance.

The handset features a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 960 × 540 pixels and an elevated 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood sits an octa-core Unisoc SC9863A processor clocked at up to 1.6 GHz paired with an IMG8322 graphics chip. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD cards up to 512GB.

The rear camera uses an 8MP sensor with an LED flash, while the front camera offers 5MP. Power comes from a 5,000 mAh battery, though charging speed is capped at 10W.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, and a USB Type-C port. The phone supports dual SIM cards with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS.

The body meets the MIL-STD-810H standard, confirming resistance to drops, vibration, and other external stresses. The Lava Smart 4 is priced at $90 in India.
