Vivo S2 debuts in India with 7,050 mAh battery and curved screen for $419

Vivo has unveiled the mid-range S2 smartphone, which stands out with an unusual design and a large battery. Unlike most current models with flat screens and bodies, the new device features a display and rear panel that curve toward the sides, resulting in extremely slim bezels. The handset is also protected against water and dust under the IP69 standard.

The pill-shaped camera module bears a slight resemblance to the one on the Apple iPhone Air. It houses a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary lens that is unlikely to be of much use to users. The 32-megapixel front camera sits in a centered punch-hole. The 6.83-inch AMOLED display offers a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak HDR brightness of 3,000 nits. The fingerprint sensor is invisibly embedded beneath the panel.

The 7,050 mAh battery supports charging via USB-C at up to 44 watts. Performance is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chip with four ARM Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. The smartphone includes a dual-SIM slot and a GPS module but lacks NFC for contactless payments.

India will be the first market for the Vivo S2. The base version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage is priced at 39,999 Indian rupees (about $419), while the top-tier 256 GB model costs 44,999 rupees (around $472). Details on pricing and availability in other regions have not been announced yet.
