Intel CPUs Return to Amazon Top 10 After 1.5 Years — Two Models Beat Popular Ryzen Chips

For the first time in nearly 18 months, Intel processors have re-entered the top 10 best-selling CPUs list on Amazon US. The last time an Intel chip appeared in the top 10 was in late 2024, when AMD secured all ten positions with models from the Ryzen 9000, 7000, and 5000 series.
Now, two Intel processors have managed to break AMD's dominance, though they still trail behind the top sellers like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus has climbed to sixth place. This chip from the Arrow Lake Refresh lineup features 24 cores and is priced at just over $250. Aggressive price cuts have made it an attractive option for enthusiasts building powerful gaming and productivity machines. Previously, the processor hovered around the 20th position in sales rankings.
The Intel Core i7 14700K secured the eighth spot. Both chips have outperformed several popular Ryzen 9000 and 7000 series models, signaling a shift in consumer preferences. However, observers caution that this may be a temporary change. AMD continues to dominate overall CPU sales volume, but losing a few positions in the top 10 indicates an evolving market dynamic.
The main driver behind Intel's resurgence appears to be aggressive pricing. By offering competitive prices, Intel has attracted buyers who previously opted for more affordable AMD solutions. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, in particular, benefits from a strong price-to-performance ratio, making it a compelling choice for those building mid-range to high-end systems.
While Intel's return to the top 10 is notable, it remains to be seen whether this trend will last. AMD's Ryzen 9000 series, especially the 9800X3D, continues to dominate the high-end segment, while the Ryzen 5800X3D remains a popular choice for budget-conscious gamers. Intel's ability to sustain its momentum will likely depend on further price adjustments and the release of next-generation architectures.
