Honor Magic9 launches early in September with dual 200MP cameras and Arri cinema features

Honor has officially confirmed that its next flagship lineup, the Magic9 series, will go on sale in September — a month earlier than last year's Magic8 series. The announcement came as part of a teaser shown near the end of the company's Robot Phone keynote, giving fans a first look at what to expect from the upcoming devices.

The teaser reveals a camera module positioned in the corner of the device rather than centered, a notable design shift. The ring around the sensors features a knurled texture similar to the one seen on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. It remains unclear whether the camera module will be rotatable or include additional physical controls.

One thing that seems certain is the inclusion of a 200-megapixel camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and optical image stabilization. Last year's Magic8 Pro featured a comparable 200-megapixel periscope module with 3.7x optical zoom, so it would not be surprising to see a similar setup carry over to the Magic9 series.

The teaser also prominently displays the Arri logo, which comes as no surprise given the strategic partnership the two companies announced earlier this summer. Honor has confirmed that the Magic9 series will adopt the same video capabilities introduced with the Robot Phone. These include built-in Log-C3 video encoding, LUT-based color grading, and a dedicated cinematic mode designed to emulate the look of Arri cinema cameras.

In addition, reports suggest the Magic9 Pro will feature two 200-megapixel cameras, further emphasizing Honor's focus on photography and videography. With the launch now just weeks away, more details are expected to emerge as the September release date approaches.
