Grok Bot keeps working even after you shut down your laptop — Musk reveals the secret

Elon Musk has revealed how Grok Bot continues to operate even after the user shuts down their computer — the bot runs on its own dedicated remote computer provided by SpaceXAI. This allows it to keep executing tasks uninterrupted, whether the user closes their laptop lid or reboots their desktop PC.
Grok Bot is part of a broader transformation of SpaceXAI's AI assistant. The company previously launched Grok Computer, an update that grants the system full access to the file system and command line, enabling it to independently perform tasks on the user's computer. The focus is on real-world projects: writing code, refactoring, and automatically fixing errors.
Following that, SpaceXAI introduced the Skills feature — a system of repeatable workflows that can be activated with a simple command and reused across different conversations. Skills operate in an isolated environment and support integration with Gmail, GitHub, and Notion. The core principle of Grok Bot is built on recording workflows and replaying them later.
In parallel, SpaceXAI launched Grok Build, an agentic command-line tool for developers aimed at automating complex workflows. All these tools are part of a unified ecosystem where Grok is gradually transitioning from a consultant role to an independent executor of tasks, capable of handling projects without constant user supervision. The remote computing infrastructure ensures that these tasks continue even when the user is not actively interacting with the system.
