Gamescom 2026 Sells Out Completely for the First Time — Over 1,600 Exhibitors and 47 Country Pavilions

Just days before the opening of Gamescom 2026, organizers Koelnmesse and the German Games Industry Association (game) have announced record-breaking numbers across exhibitors, indie participation, and international representation. The Cologne-based event is shaping up to be the largest edition in its history.

The show now counts more than 1,600 exhibitors, with 70% coming from outside Germany. That's an increase from 1,568 exhibitors in 2025. This year, participants represent 67 countries, down from 72 last year. Organizers have confirmed 47 country pavilions representing 40 nations — up from 40 pavilions and 35 countries in 2025. New additions include Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco, and Nigeria, all making their Gamescom debut. The total exhibition space covers 233,000 square meters, and for the first time ever, the entire floor is completely sold out.

Visitor demand is equally strong: wildcard tickets and Saturday passes have already sold out ahead of the event. The Gamescom indie area is seeing its biggest growth yet, hosting more than 420 companies and hundreds of games — a 16% increase over last year's 364 companies. Organizers are positioning the indie zone as a central showcase for games developed outside traditional large-scale production pipelines.

Beyond the show floor, the week's programming will be streamed extensively online. Highlights include Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 25 at 8 PM CEST, the awesome indies showcase, and the newly added charity speedrunning event Game.
