Galaxy Z Fold 8 pre-orders jump 30%, Flip owners switching to Fold more than triple

Samsung has shared early pre-order figures for its foldable lineup — the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The numbers suggest the form factor has moved beyond the niche stage: global demand for the entire series is up 30% compared with the same period last year, when the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 went on sale.
The trend is especially pronounced in the United States. Interest in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra climbed by the same 30%, and nearly half of all US pre-orders for the new foldables were for the base Galaxy Z Fold 8. Demand has been so strong that logistics are already straining: the lavender version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 sold out on the official website faster than analysts expected, and other color options are gradually moving to "pending" status.
The biggest shift this year is users migrating within the lineup. The number of Galaxy Z Flip owners upgrading to the pricier Galaxy Z Fold series has more than tripled. It seems buyers have grown tired of compactness and now want a foldable that can realistically replace a tablet for work and media consumption. That is especially good news for Samsung, since the Fold line carries significantly higher margins.
The company also continues to push accessories through bundles. According to internal data, one in four US customers who pre-ordered a phone from the new lineup added extra accessories to their cart. This confirms that Samsung's ecosystem plays a key role in retaining users and boosting the average transaction value.
Samsung has managed to keep its loyal base and attract new buyers despite intensifying competition from Chinese manufacturers. The foldable market keeps expanding, and current pre-order numbers indicate that the Korean giant still leads the segment.
