CPU-Z 3.01 spots overheating and outdated drivers in 10 seconds — Validator V3 gets overhaul

On August 20, 2026, version 3.01 of the CPU-Z diagnostic utility for Windows was released. The previous major update, CPU-Z 2.0, came out in March 2022, followed by version 2.15 in March 2025 and build 2.20 in May 2026.
The developers fixed previously reported bugs and updated the online Validator V3 service, which is used to verify overclocking results. Now, during a standard system check, the utility performs a quick PC diagnostic in just 10 seconds. Within that time, the app can flag overheating, outdated drivers, unwanted software, and other issues.
The built-in scan in CPU-Z 3 analyzes over a hundred system parameters, including CPU and SSD temperatures, driver freshness, potential hardware failures, and unusual configurations. All notifications are sorted into three levels: critical issues, warnings, and informational messages.
The Validator V3 online service is still in beta. Its main URL has changed to valid.cpuid.com, but old links continue to redirect properly.
A future update to CPU-Z 3 will introduce an Advanced Validation mode, designed for more thorough system testing — from a few minutes to several hours of load on the CPU, memory, and GPU. The integrated tests will be expanded to cover graphics cards, RAM, and storage drives, and the validation page will include graphs showing temperatures, frequencies, and fan speeds from HWMonitor. CPUID noted that the Advanced Validation engine is already in use at repair shops and RMA centers, where it has processed tens of thousands of PCs.
