Control Resonant shows metro with floating trains: 30-hour campaign and September 24, 2026 release

Remedy Entertainment has shared new details about The Metro Fault story mission in Control Resonant. The exclusive gameplay footage arrived as part of the IGN First coverage, with more information about the game expected soon.

In the mission, the protagonist descends into the New York subway, which behaves unpredictably: the deeper he goes, the more the space distorts. Trains float in the air and move chaotically, walls expand, and Dylan hears the voice of his missing sister Jesse. The Mold from the original Control also appears in the metro — its scent drives people insane, makes them eat it, and slowly kills them.

From a gameplay perspective, the location is one of the game's "dungeons." Completing it rewards the player with the Reach ability, which allows quick ascents up vertical surfaces.

The story of Control Resonant centers on Dylan, the brother of Jesse Faden and a former ward of the Federal Bureau of Control. The action moves from the Oldest House to the streets of Manhattan, where otherworldly creatures have escaped from the FBC headquarters. A supernatural catastrophe has reshaped the city: buildings hang in the air, rotated 90 or even 180 degrees, and the player can traverse their rooftops.

The main campaign takes roughly 30 hours to complete, while full 100% completion requires 50 hours. The sequel shifts away from shooter mechanics toward fast-paced slasher combat in the style of Devil May Cry.

Control Resonant launches on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
