Casio’s 32-gram Pro Trek glows in the dark and runs 5 months on a single charge

Casio has launched a new compact outdoor watch in the US market, the Pro Trek PRJ01AE-8. The model is designed for hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who prefers a sporty, lightweight daily wear.

The case is made from eco-friendly biopolymer resin, keeping the total weight at just 32 grams. The dimensions are 44.4 × 39.1 mm with a thickness of only 11.6 mm, making the watch barely noticeable on the wrist. The standout feature is the fully phosphorescent white dial, which absorbs ambient light and glows in the dark, ensuring clear readability during nighttime hikes. At the same time, the dial remains transparent enough to let light reach the solar panel underneath.

The watch uses Casio's proprietary solar charging system, eliminating the need for battery replacements. A full charge provides approximately 5 months of operation without any light exposure. The case is water-resistant to 10 bar, meaning it can be submerged to depths of up to 100 meters.

In addition to a soft polyurethane strap, the package includes a quick-release carabiner. With it, the watch can be detached from the wrist in seconds and attached to a backpack, belt loop, or camping gear. The crown is protected by a rotating bezel that locks at a 45-degree angle, preventing accidental presses while still allowing access to time and date adjustments.

The Casio Pro Trek PRJ01AE-8 is already available in the United States.
