Car festival rocks 700-year-old castle: drift taxi and a carbon 'flying brick'

The "Tachki Piknik 2026" car festival has kicked off right next to the walls of Lida Castle, a 700-year-old landmark that apparently is the only thing sturdy enough to handle the noise. The two-day event features a drift show with drift taxi rides, motorcycle stunt performances, a display of rare vehicles, and an open-air concert headlined by Parade of Planets and Borisovsky Trakt.

This is the second year in a row the organizers picked Lida as the venue, and visitors from other cities seem perfectly fine with that. Parking lots were packed with cars bearing license plates from regions seven and eight, while entry queues stretched far beyond the horizon.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a carbon-fiber hot rod built by Sergey Kabargin, nicknamed the "flying brick." Right next to it sits the Russian race car Rossa, constructed by racing driver Roman Rusinov. Reports say the engineering side was handled by Igor Yermilin, who was previously involved in the once-famous Marussia Motors project founded by actor Nikolai Fomenko.
