89% of GTA VI pre-orders were the $100 edition — analysts say they've never seen this

Analytics firm Sensor Tower has revealed just how much more popular the premium edition of GTA VI is among pre-order buyers. The split between the standard and full versions stands at 11% versus 89%.

Pre-orders for the game opened on June 25. The standard edition is priced at $80, while the full version costs $100 and includes a set of exclusive content: weapons, vehicles, cosmetics, and additional features. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously called the pre-orders "unprecedented and extraordinary," noting that customers are "very excited about both options" but are leaning more toward the premium edition.

According to Sensor Tower's data, the ratio on Xbox is 10% to 90%, while on PlayStation it is 11.5% to 88.5%. Karl Kontus, Senior Vice President of Video Game Insights at Sensor Tower, said he has "never seen anything like this." Typically, the share of premium editions does not exceed 10–20%, and in the best cases reaches 50%. Analysts attribute the popularity of the more expensive version to the wide range of meaningful bonuses it offers.

As of August 11, Rockstar had sold 4.3 million pre-orders of GTA VI: 3.32 million on PlayStation (77%) and 0.97 million on Xbox (23%). The company is not making any predictions about post-launch sales.

GTA VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, exclusively on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Series S. An extended gameplay showcase is expected to take place at a later date.
