Xiaomi launches a $60 smart camera with 4K video, a 3.97-inch display, and video calls

Xiaomi has introduced the Smart Camera Video Call Version 2, a home security camera that doubles as a video calling device. The new model features a 3.97-inch color display with a resolution of 480 × 800 pixels, allowing users to make video calls directly to smartphones or other compatible cameras.

Users can initiate a call using a hand gesture, a physical button, or through automatic connection. The audio system includes two microphones, a large speaker, and intelligent noise cancellation technology to ensure clear communication.

The camera is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor capable of recording video in 4K resolution, up to 3840 × 2160 pixels. Its panning mechanism enables 360-degree rotation, while the tilt angle can be manually adjusted within a 30-degree range, providing comprehensive room coverage.

A new chipset delivers 50% more computing power compared to the previous generation, enhancing artificial intelligence capabilities for scene and activity recognition.

The Smart Camera Video Call Version 2 will be available for crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Youpin platform starting August 26. The price is set at 429 yuan, approximately $60.
