Whoop makes Advanced Labs blood tests free to access — but you still pay $150 per screening

Whoop, the screenless fitness wearable brand, announced that its Advanced Labs feature will no longer require a subscription. Any Whoop user can now opt to take advantage of the blood testing health screenings without needing an additional paid membership.

However, the lab work itself is not free. These tests are conducted by Quest Diagnostics, with prices starting at around $150 per screening. Previously, access to Advanced Labs was gated behind an extra subscription cost on top of the regular Whoop membership. Now, the feature is available to all Whoop users, regardless of their subscription tier.

The screenings provide data on a Whoop wearer's cardiovascular, metabolic, hormonal, and inflammatory health. Whoop also shared that it has added the multi-cancer early detection test Galleri to its Advanced Labs portfolio. Galleri is designed to screen for multiple types of cancer through a single blood draw, which could be a significant addition for users interested in proactive health monitoring.

The market for screenless fitness trackers has become increasingly crowded in recent months. Both Garmin and Google Fitbit have introduced new devices in this segment, intensifying competition for Whoop. By removing the subscription barrier for Advanced Labs, Whoop may be attempting to keep its existing customers engaged and attract new users who are interested in deeper health insights without committing to an additional recurring fee.

This move could also be seen as a strategic response to the growing number of alternatives available to consumers. With more brands offering similar screenless form factors, Whoop is likely betting that its advanced health data and partnerships with diagnostics companies like Quest Diagnostics will differentiate its product from the competition. The addition of the Galleri test further strengthens the value proposition for users focused on early disease detection and comprehensive health tracking.
