Beacon Pines and We Were Here Together are free on Epic Games Store until August 13

The Epic Games Store has launched a new giveaway, letting users add Beacon Pines and We Were Here Together to their libraries for free through August 13. The offer lasts seven days, and then two other games will replace them. The previous free titles, OTXO and Sol Cesto, are no longer available.

Beacon Pines is a "cute and creepy" adventure where players flip through a storybook as they progress. The protagonist is a boy named Luka who, along with friends, explores his hometown and investigates strange occurrences that adults overlook. According to developer Hiding Spot, players collect golden charms with words engraved on them during the investigation. These charms can be used at key story turning points to fill in a blank and drastically alter everything that follows.

The second game, We Were Here Together, is a co-op title for two players only. It's a first-person game set in the frozen Antarctic, where partners rely on walkie-talkies to communicate and solve asymmetrical puzzles while trying to escape Castle Rock. Developer Total Mayhem stresses that players start with nothing but their wits and a walkie-talkie each: observation, clear communication, and teamwork are the only way out of the sinister location.

Free copies can be claimed within seven days, until August 13. When the giveaway ends, two new games will become available the same day. Additionally, Steam is still running a separate free offer for Moonlighter. Mobile users should also check the Epic Games Store app on Android and iOS for weekly giveaways—free games are available there as well.
