Trump signs memo: US aims for 1,000 space launches per year and robots on Mars by 2030

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a memorandum setting an ambitious goal for the American space industry: to achieve more than 1,000 space launches and landings annually by 2030. Currently, the U.S. space sector averages just over 200 launches per year.

The document calls for accelerating the development of space transportation infrastructure and strengthening cooperation between the government and private companies. Authorities intend to streamline and speed up the issuance of permits required for launches and the construction of related infrastructure.

Beyond scaling up launch frequency, the memorandum directs the study of commercial use of robots for landing on the surface of Mars. Future programs are also expected to explore sending humans to the Red Planet and bringing them back to Earth.

The Trump administration aims to simultaneously boost launch rates and create the conditions for transitioning from Earth-orbit missions to large-scale lunar and Martian exploration programs. The memo emphasizes the need for closer public-private partnerships and regulatory reforms to support the rapid expansion of the space industry.
