The Blood of Dawnwalker caps at 40 FPS on consoles, even PS5 Pro can't hit 60

The developers of The Blood of Dawnwalker have revealed the game's performance on consoles, and the news is likely to disappoint those hoping for smooth 60 FPS gameplay. The maximum frame rate will be just 40 FPS, and even the more powerful PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X won't break that barrier.
On the PS5 Pro, standard PS5, and Xbox Series X, players will be able to choose between two graphics modes. The first is a "Quality" mode that targets 30 FPS with dynamic 4K resolution. The second is a "Balanced" mode that aims for 40 FPS, also with dynamic 4K. On the PS5 Pro, both modes will feature enhanced graphical quality compared to the base PS5. No information has been provided yet regarding performance on the Xbox Series S.
The absence of a 60 FPS mode has already sparked frustration among some players. Several users have stated that the frame rate cap will push them to purchase The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC instead of on consoles. The limitation seems particularly odd given the game's combat system — The Blood of Dawnwalker is a role-playing game featuring fast-paced melee combat with cold weapons, where smooth animation is often considered crucial for responsive gameplay.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled for release on September 3rd.
