Servant of the Lake delayed to August 13, 2026, launching on iOS, Android, and PC

Rusty Lake has confirmed that its narrative point-and-click adventure Servant of the Lake will launch on August 13, 2026, for iOS, Android, and PC via Steam. The independent developer and publisher announced the date, noting that the premium title is a standalone entry in its long-running surreal puzzle series, bringing players back to the Vanderboom estate to uncover the family's history from a fresh angle.
The game was originally slated for a spring 2026 release, but Rusty Lake postponed it after the project's scope—both in story and puzzles—nearly doubled during development. Instead of playing as an investigator or a trapped victim, the player steps into the role of a newly hired servant arriving at the Vanderboom house during the era of Aldous and William Vanderboom, decades before the events of Rusty Lake: Roots. The narrative starts with routine chores, such as preparing the mansion for weekend guests, ordering supplies, and tending to the grounds, before shifting into strange tasks tied to the family's alchemical experiments.
Gameplay follows the studio's familiar inventory-based puzzle logic, requiring players to inspect rooms, combine unusual items, and fulfill increasingly odd requests from the household's residents. Servant of the Lake builds on the universe established in previous titles like Cube Escape, The Past Within, and Underground Blossom. The original atmospheric soundtrack comes from long-time series collaborator Victor Butzelaar, with sound design by Driftwood Audio, the studio's regular audio partner since The Past Within.
Ahead of launch, players can try a free teaser demo, Servant of the Lake Lite, on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, featuring a 15–30-minute prologue covering the carriage's arrival and initial estate assignments. A separate demo is also available on Steam. Pre-orders and Steam wishlists are open now ahead of the August 13 rollout, with the full mobile release priced at $4.99.
