Rizz Dungeon delayed to 2025 because Turnip Boy games sold too well

Snoozy Kazoo, the indie studio behind the Turnip Boy series, has pushed back the release of its upcoming RPG Rizz Dungeon: Skeleton Key to My Heart. Originally slated for a September 17 launch, the game will now arrive next year. The reason? The studio's previous titles—Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank—sold better than expected, giving the team financial breathing room.
In a statement, Snoozy Kazoo founder and director Yukon Wainczak explained that the delay serves two purposes: adding more content and avoiding crunch. "As a tiny studio of five people, there were quite a few features (and Monster Girls!) we were cutting in order to hit this September 17th release date, and we were starting to crunch to ensure this game was something we were proud of," Wainczak said. "While we understand the delay likely comes as a disappointment, we hope that you can be reassured by the fact that we are making a better—and healthier made—Rizz Dungeon with this delay."
Rizz Dungeon is a role-playing game with a quirky premise: the player character explores a dungeon to retrieve belongings from a dragon—who happens to be their ex-girlfriend. The twist is that all skill points are invested in Charisma rather than combat stats. Players must charm their way out of fights and recruit "monster girls" to handle the actual fighting. The developer describes the experience as reminiscent of Pokémon, but with a focus on seduction and diplomacy instead of creature battles. The extra development time is expected to allow the small team to flesh out the game's mechanics, narrative, and roster of recruitable characters without the pressure of a tight deadline.
