Ride1Up’s new folding e-bike offers 96 km range and a torque sensor for smoother rides

Ride1Up has unveiled the second-generation Portola 02 folding electric bike, nearly three years after the original Portola launched. The new model features a foldable alloy frame that collapses to 482.6 × 749.3 × 838.2 mm, making it easy to store in tight spaces or take on public transport. However, at 27.6 kg, the e-bike is not particularly light.
The Portola 02 is powered by a 750 W AKM hub motor delivering 90 Nm of torque. It reaches a top speed of 45 km/h with pedal assist, qualifying it as a Class 3 e-bike. Buyers can choose between two battery packs: a 10 Ah unit offering up to 72.4 km of range, or a 15 Ah pack that extends the range to 96 km in pedal-assist mode. Using full throttle will reduce these figures significantly.
The e-bike rolls on 20-inch wheels fitted with 20 × 3-inch puncture-resistant tires. Stopping power comes from dual-piston hydraulic brakes with 180 mm rotors. A 3.5-inch color display shows speed, battery level, range, class settings, and riding modes. Key upgrades include an improved battery management system, built-in Find My tracking, a 100 lux LED front headlight, and a brake light with integrated turn signals. The Portola 02 also features the Intui-Drive system, which combines torque and cadence sensing for more natural pedal assistance.
