Ray-Ban smart glasses now cost $6,840: Caviar adds gold, silver and crocodile leather

Ray-Ban Wayfarer II smart glasses are now available in versions featuring precious metals. Caviar, a company known for customizing consumer electronics, has unveiled the Odyssey collection inspired by Homer's poems. Instead of standard plastic parts, the new models use 24-karat gold and sterling silver, while the charging case is wrapped in crocodile leather.

The collection consists of two models. The base version features panels plated with 24-karat gold, while the Odyssey Silver variant uses 22-karat sterling silver inserts. Both are built on black Wayfarer frames. The metal elements are hand-forged, engraved and polished, decorated with Greek motifs, and the temples feature black enamel stars.

Each model is limited to 24 units, matching the 24 books of the Odyssey. The bundled charging case has also been redesigned: the standard Ray-Ban case is covered in black crocodile leather, and the clasp bears the Caviar logo.

The internal hardware remains unchanged. Buyers get all the original Wayfarer II features: a built-in camera for photos and videos, open speakers for audio playback, touch controls, and an AI voice assistant. The battery, processors, and sensors are identical to the standard retail version.

Caviar did not disclose how much weight the metal parts add to the frames, which is typically a key factor for comfortable daily wear of smart glasses. However, the company appears to target customers for whom this factor is not decisive.

The 24-karat gold model is priced at $6,130, while the silver version costs $6,840. Both models are now available for order on Caviar's website.
