Range Rover GT spotted at Nürburgring: first electric GT from the brand arrives in 2027

Range Rover has shown its new GT on public roads for the first time, giving a real-world look at the fifth model in the lineup. The prototype was caught during testing at the Nürburgring, and despite heavy camouflage, the sporty new design with a fastback roofline is clearly visible.

The new model will be the first Range Rover built on JLR's new EMA platform. Initially, the GT will be offered solely as a battery-electric vehicle, with a full-hybrid option to follow later in its lifecycle. The company describes the car as "the most technologically sophisticated" model it has ever made and "the most car-like, yet unmistakably capable" Range Rover.

According to Range Rover managing director Martin Limbert, the design resulted from years of focusing on the fundamentals of the GT formula. Inside, the cabin follows the principles of "purity, precision, and quiet modernity": a large central digital screen, a small driver display replacing the traditional instrument cluster, a concealed air vent running across the width of the cabin, and a woven textile wrapping the dashboard to hide the speakers.

Production of the Range Rover GT is set to begin in the first half of 2027 at JLR's Halewood plant in the UK. The model will sit below the Velar in the lineup, and its price in the UK is likely to exceed £75,000. The GT is expected to use a 100 kWh battery, which, combined with its aerodynamic fastback design, could deliver a range of around 800 km.

Before the GT arrives, the company is preparing to launch its flagship electric SUV based on JLR's MLA platform. That model will use a 118 kWh battery pack, providing up to 600 km of range. Range Rover will reveal more details about the GT later this year.
