PDFsam 6.0.5 fixes compression bugs and moves to Java 25

A new version of the open-source PDF toolkit, PDFsam 6.0.5, has been released. The update arrived on August 5, 2026, and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

PDFsam (PDF Split And Merge) handles splitting, merging, extracting pages, mixing, and rotating documents in PDF format. The code is written in Java and is hosted on GitHub under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0.

Version 6.0.5 is the latest step in the product line: the 6.0.0 build was introduced in April 2026. Earlier major releases came with noticeable gaps — PDFsam 5.0.0 arrived in January 2023, version 4.0.0 in December 2018, and version 3.0.0 in November 2015.

The key changes in this release focus on stability. Developers fixed several previously reported bugs, including an issue with the UNCOMPRESSED compression policy, and improved readability. Dependencies have also been updated: the project now runs on JDK 25.0.4 and JavaFX 25.0.4. Translations were refreshed, and the logging system was reworked.

For Windows, both an installer and a portable build are offered. Users of macOS and Linux can also grab the latest builds.
