Midea AC integration in Home Assistant gets new sensors and local control — no cloud needed

Home Assistant users now have enhanced capabilities for integrating air conditioners from Midea and its OEM partners, including Carrier, Comfee, Beko, and Electrolux. The updated Midea Smart AC integration adds new telemetry data and flexible polling settings, making local control more powerful than ever.

The integration enables fully local operation without reliance on cloud services. This allows users to create practical automations: automatically turning on a fan for better air circulation, matching cooling output to real-time solar PV production, or switching off the unit when leaving the house. All data stays within the local network, ensuring privacy and low latency.

The updated version reads additional telemetry data from both indoor and outdoor units. For example, it now reports the operating status of the condensate pump, which is critical for detecting potential leaks or maintenance needs. Furthermore, the polling interval can be flexibly set anywhere between 1 and 30 seconds, giving users the ability to find the ideal balance between up-to-date data and low system load. Shorter intervals provide near-real-time monitoring, while longer intervals reduce network traffic and CPU usage.

Midea's strong market position in the HVAC sector is evident not only from the success of its portable split unit, the PortaSplit, but also from its role as an OEM manufacturer for numerous partner brands, including Carrier, Comfee, Beko, and Electrolux. This means that many devices from these brands can now benefit from the same enhanced integration.

The new features make the Midea Smart AC integration even more useful for smart home enthusiasts. With local control, flexible polling, and additional diagnostics, users can optimize their HVAC systems for energy efficiency, comfort, and reliability. The update is available now through the Home Assistant integration repository.
