MegaFon boosts 4G in mining city of Prokopyevsk, covering colleges and courts

MegaFon has upgraded its network in Prokopyevsk, the third most populous city in Kemerovo Oblast. New telecom equipment was installed on Institutskaya Street, improving coverage in an area home to social and educational institutions. The company shared this information with CNews.
The city ranks fifth in the region for generated mobile traffic, trailing only Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Mezhdurechensk and Belovo. Data consumption grows every year, prompting the operator to expand infrastructure and modernize existing facilities in response to subscriber demand.
The installed equipment operates in mid-band and high-band frequencies. This combination delivers broad coverage, high data transfer speeds and increased network capacity. Residents now find it easier to use banking apps, government portals, marketplaces and messengers.
The enhanced coverage zone includes a mining technical college, a medical college, a branch of Kuzbass Technical University, lyceums, a court, a social fund and other key city facilities. Olesya Shiryaeva, MegaFon's director in Kemerovo Oblast, noted that work is underway not only in large cities like Prokopyevsk, home to over 170,000 people, but also in smaller settlements. Over seven months this year, more than 85 base stations were built or modernized across Kuzbass.
